The Marquee: Why did you join ultimate frisbee?
Elizabeth Heare: I joined ultimate because I used to play at my church and it was a lot of fun. I joined at Marcus because one of my older friends said that he played it and I just thought I’d try it out and I really liked it.
TM: What is your favorite aspect of the sport?
EH: I like the spirit of the game. The whole point of ultimate is creating a strong group of people who are all friends. I really like how whenever we go to different tournaments, I know a lot of the girls I’m playing against and as we’re playing we can talk and get to know each other.
TM: What are your practices and matches like?
EH: [During] our games there are seven people on the field at a time and you just go back and forth trying to work your way up the field and into the end zone to score.
TM: Have you faced any difficulty after joining the club?
EH: I hurt my knee this summer so I haven’t been able to play that much this year.
TM: What do you want other people to know about ultimate frisbee?
EH: It’s really fun. It’s a really close environment and we have a lot of chemistry together as a team. You’ll have really good friends that you’ll make from this sport.
TM: What’s a fun fact about yourself?
EH: I have two dogs who are really annoying sometimes. I have a border-collie lab mix and a petit basset griffon vendéen.
