On April 25, bands and artists from all over the world will gather together at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas for Edgefest. The festival is anticipated to be bigger and better than ever as it celebrates 25 year of bringing the biggest bands of alternative music together for one day. In anticipation for Edgefest, The Marquee decided to take a look at a few of the bands that will be headlining the festival. Presale for Edgefest tickets will start on Feb 17 and will be available to the public on Feb 20.
Modest Mouse
A little more than a month before Edgefest, Modest Mouse will release their sixth album, Strangers to Ourselves. This American based band released the first single of their new album, The Best Room, on Feb 3 and it has already received positive feedback from many fans. With the introduction of new music for the first time in eight years, fans are eager to get a chance to hear them perform new music live on Edgefest’s main stage.
AWOLNATION
AWOLNATION, the band headed by Aaron Bruno, soared it’s way into the public eye with their song Sail, will release their second album, Run, a month before Edgefest. In January, the band released Hollow Moon, the first single off their second album. This upbeat tune perfectly shows off the band’s talents while solidifying the band’s sound. Excited to hear new tracks off AWOLNATION’s new album, many fans are sure to flock to Edgefest.
Banks
After breaking through onto the alternative music scene at Coachella last year, this Los Angeles singer-songwriter has picked up attention with her single, Beggin For Thread. In the midst of working on her second album, Banks will drop by Frisco in order to perform songs off her debut Album, Goddess. So far, Edgefest is only one of three stops the powerful female artist has announced for the 2015 festival season.
Hozier
Coming off of major performances at big events such as the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, the Grammys and Coachella, Hozier will be one of many artist playing Edgefest’s main stage on April 25. This Irish born artist made a big splash across the pond in 2014 when Take Me To Church went viral on Youtube. Hozier’s stop at the Dallas House of Blues on March 20 is already sold out. Because of this, many fan’s of his cool, classical sound will be sure to gather around the Edgefest stage to listen to him perform tracks of his self titled album, Hozier.
Vance Joy
An Australian artist who has gathered fame for his hit song, Riptide, Vance Joy will be making an appearance at Edgefest in the middle of his world tour. Fresh out of the Coachella dessert, Joy will hit the main stage and perform songs off of his debut album, Dream Your Life Away. After selling out the Dallas House Of Blues last fall, Vance joy is expected to attract a large crowd of fans.
