Though Duel in the Pool has been a tradition for the swim team to swim against district rivals Flower Mound for the last 16 years, this was the first year for the meet to be held in the new Westside Aquatic Center.
Before the meet began, seniors from both teams were recognized as they walked across the pool deck. The seniors were cheered on by a group of Marquettes and cheerleaders as they walked through a tunnels of underclassmen to meet up with their parents. At the end of the walk each athlete hugged coach Shannon Gillespy and posed for a photo.
After a quick warm up the meet started off with the 200 yard medley relay. All 24 events were filled with high intensity. Both the Marauders and Jaguars showed sportsmanship, often giving each other high fives and wishing the competitor in the next lane good luck. All smiles were on deck as parents and friends cheered on their teams
The swim team lost to Flower Mound 535 to 295. The team has two more meets before the district meet on January 23rd.
