While students and teachers were relaxing on summer break, workers and administrators were busy finishing several new changes to the campus.
Perhaps the most obvious change is the creation of the new freshman center. Teachers and classrooms being moved to the freshman center provided 14 empty classrooms in the main campus. This means that for the first time ever, no portables are scattered throughout the parking lot.
Another major change that has taken place is the addition of parking spots near the football stadium.
“I hope it will provide parking for everybody all year long,” Assistant Principal Knowles said.
The new parent pick up system was also put in place to improve the flow of traffic.
With all the buzz of these major changes, many students haven’t been noticing the small changes that have been made around the main campus. For example, the café has been moved out of the library and into the commons to make it more accessible and to reduce the noise level.
Another change is the glass walls put up in the cafeteria, which allows students to see into the food serving area. A new seating area has been added upstairs. Students use it before, after and even during school. Despite its location, it is an area to relax and catch up on homework or even socialize with friends.
The last major change to the school over the summer is the combination of the main office and counseling center, to create just one large main office on the main campus.
“Combining the counseling center and the main office helps the flow of traffic and makes it easier to get in and out,” said office clerk Mrs. Kiser.
