Major progress made on new arena, theater
As the school year continues, so does the work on the school’s three construction projects, the black box theater, the basketball arena and the freshman center. While the freshman center will not be completed until next year, the black box theater and arena have undergone major progress.
The black box theater was the first project to be started and now seven months later is nearing full completion. When school first started the general structure was built but it is now completely bricked and he inside is being worked on now. The theater is still set to be done in the upcoming months once all construction inside is concluded.
The freshman center is still set to be completed by March on next year. Since the beginning of the school year, the focus has mainly been in the construction of the arena and black-box but the freshman campus now has the framework going up.
The basketball arena was originally scheduled to be completed by the beginning of March but has now been delayed a month to the beginning of April. Since August, the complete framework has gone up and the concrete work has begun on the outside structure as well as on the inside. Work on the inside is the main focus as of now including, work on the bathrooms and locker rooms.
Assistant Principle Rusty Hamric is one of the primary supervisors over construction. According to Hamric, all construction is on time except for the arena. There hasn’t been any major problems due to construction except for a few issues dealing with wi-fi.
“We’ve had issues with the wi-fi not automatically at the stadium where the concessions stands are.” Said Hamric. “Other then that there has been no major issues due to construction.
