As the weather cools and the fall holidays approach, eateries across Flower Mound whip out their signature pumpkin inspired dishes to welcome the autumn season. While some items like the pumpkin spice latte can be found virtually anywhere, other items like pumpkin pie donuts are unique to certain restaurants. The Marquee scouted out some fall treats to see which ones are worth trying.
Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin
This pastry can be found at a national favorite: Starbucks. While their pumpkin spice latte is more well-known, they also offer a couple other items for the fall season, including the pumpkin cream cheese muffin. The muffin had a moist texture and a prominent pumpkin flavor. The sweet pumpkin and spice flavor is contrasted by the candied pumpkin seeds on top and the tangy cream cheese. Overall this item is a great way to welcome in autumn in the classic Starbucks atmosphere.
Pumpkin Pie Milkshake
When Texas decides to switch it up and a cold drink is necessary to beat the unorthodox October heat, this milkshake is the way to go. Made with their pumpkin pie ice cream, Baskin Robbins has created a pumpkin pie milkshake. The store itself smells like ice cream cones and the general playful atmosphere adds a nice touch to the experience. With the creamy texture and sweet pumpkin flavor, the milkshake tastes like cold pumpkin pie filling. Needless to say, this treat is perfect for getting into a fall mood.
Pumpkin Bread
At Scooter’s Coffee and Yogurt, one can find a variety of fall inspired goodies. Their pumpkin bread has the typical pumpkin and spice flavor, but the outside of the bread has a strong brown sugar flavor that complemented the sweetness. It also has swirls of cream cheese dispersed throughout that adds a tang to the flavor. The staff was exceptionally friendly and the service was quick.
Pumpkin Donut
Dunkin Donuts’ attempt at following the fall trend was unique, but less than satisfactory. It had a mildly sweet, crunchy outside and tasted like plastic on the inside. What was supposed to be some sort of pumpkin filling had virtually no taste. It had a problem with keeping all its tasteless filling inside the pastry. While the staff was friendly and prepared the donut quickly, the donut itself was not quite up to par.
From drinks to snacks, there are many options for getting a pumpkin fix. Overall, the Flower Mound area seems to be doing a decent job in providing their customers with pumpkin necessities.
