With the coming of fall comes new TV shows. This year has had a variety of new fall shows, The Marquee takes a look at some of the winners and the losers.
Winners:
The Goldbergs
This show based in the 1980s follows the rather odd family of the Goldberg’s who are based on the shows producer’s family. The story focuses on the 11-year-old son Adam and how he documents the family’s interesting experiences such as teaching their 16-year-old to drive.Former Marcus student Hayley Orrantia plays the older sister of Adam. The show airs on Tuesday’s on ABC.
Once Upon a Time in Wonderland
This show is a spinoff of Once Upon a Time, but it does have its differences. Once Upon a Time takes a new twist on the classic Snow White tale and Once Upon a Time in Wonderland is based on the story of Alice in Wonderland as well as being based off season three of Once Upon a Time.. With the original being an unusual take on a classic. This new spinoff should be satisfactory to any fans of the original program. The show airs on Thursdays at 7 on ABC.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
This show has received quite a bit of praise from critics and for good reason. It is about different agents coming together to form a worldwide law enforcement that are known as S.H.I.E.L.D. The show is said to have a similar feel to the widely popular Avengers movie. It’s a definite must watch for superhero fans. It airs on ABC on Tuesdays at 8.
Losers:
Lucky 7
The idea is interesting enough. A group of seven friends who all have a running pool for the lottery plan to share the winnings if they do win. While it may be entertaining for a short period of time, it was not destined for TV fame, and was pulled off the air after only two episodes.
Welcome to the Family
This show only aired three episodes and is already being cancelled due to poor ratings. The show is about two families, one white and one latino, who become one and must adapt to each other after a surprise pregnancy. With a plot that some find generic and a bit racist, it was almost destined to fail. It is now the lowest rated Thursday comedy in NBC history.
We are Men
This sitcom has fallen flat in the few episodes that have aired. The plot consists of a man named Carter who gets left at the altar and then moves into a rental complex where he then becomes friends with three other divorced men. With such a generic plot, not even having a time slot after How I Met Your Mother could save this show. After only two episodes with mediocre ratings the show was pulled from the air.
