Earth Club members will be going green this April 13. The members will be removing trash from a strip of highway at the corner of Highway 377 and 1171.
“We have had the highway for a year and a half,” said Danelda Crouse, social studies teacher and earth club sponsor.
All students are allowed to come to this event, even if they are not in the Earth Club. Usually, 10 to 20 people attend events like this one.
Guests are always welcome,” said Earth Club Vice President Junior Brittany Diaz.
The club will split up into groups to tackle the mess on the highway. Diaz said that in the past this event has been very fun and thinks that others should come to help.
“I really like it and think we make a difference,” said Diaz.
Earth Club first started in Crouse’s freshman classes because students wanted to help the environment. The members started by collecting recycling materials and have moved on to other projects over the past five years, such as the Adopt-a-Highway program. Projects like this impact the community by keeping the environment clean.
