The Boys’ basketball team, ranked 15th in Class 6A, held off a late surge by defending state champion Plano East to win 64-58 at The Colony High School in the bi-district round of the Division I playoffs Monday night.
No. 14 Plano East (25-6), came within two points of tying the contest with just over a minute remaining, but Marcus went on a 9-5 run to close the game to advance.
The Marauders (26-8) will play Arlington Martin in an area round matchup on Friday, Feb. 21 at Newman Smith High School in Carrollton at 7 p.m. Martin, also 26-8 on the season, defeated Lake Highlands, 48-46, in bi-district play.
